Whispers in the night.

I have always thought that everyone has a spirit guide, or guardian angel that follows them around. Over the years I have had a couple of experiences that reinforce this belief.

Mind you this is rare, but sometimes as I'm going to sleep, I will hear a woman's voice. She sounds young and is always in my right ear, never my left. It's been several years since I've heard the voice, but last night I heard her again. The last time I heard her, she sounded like she was talking to someone else. I got the distinct impression it was another woman. I was drifting off to sleep very slowly. I heard her say "Oh look, he's falling alseep.", and then I did fall asleep.

This time, It was very late because I was up working on the site. As I was drifting off, I felt her next to me on my right side. I felt her lean in and breath a word on my ear. She said "Bill". She only said this one word but it carried with it such weight. I know a few Bills and I knew she was saying someone's name. But, I don't think that she would waste this oppurtunity to mention someone's name if it wasn't important. Like I said it's been literally years since I've heard her voice. I have an uncle named Bill that I care for very much. He is not doing well with his health and I had the disctinct impression that she was referring to him.

This post is for anyone who has heard these whispers. I'm referring to those odd moments in life when you hear someone call your name when no one is around or those late night conversations that can be heard when you're falling asleep. Any variations on this theme are more than welcome.

Well, my dad passed away in 2001. my mom had a stroke the year before that and was needing our help. eventually she became ill and we were going up to help her daily , 3-4 times to make meals and everything els we could. well. in late August 2005 mom worsened, and time came to show that after all the doctors did, nothing now could better her life. Not in this world.. a rare gallbladder cancer was found in stage 4. she never came home, 1 week later after the diagnosis she left us in her sleep after a massive stroke. I still fel at times what els should I have done…? I dont know, I suppose I did all I could. well, I always talk top ma out back in the fields , and I feel her there with me. the other night I was watching a sad show, when i just cried, as it was a dear lady who was dying.. well…I was horrible sad. with my head hung tears flowing, i heard a muffled sort of whisper, in my right ear! i couldnt move, i couldnt totally understand but it was a lady like voice, i just couldnt make out the words, yet they were very strengthful. I somehow felt comforted, and yet confused. I wish someone might have an idea on what is happening. Your friend, Nan

I don’t think anyone really knows what’s out there. I like to think that those who love us, in some way can comfort us when we need, even if they have moved on from this physical existence.

I just moved into a house that was built in the 1920’s and was refurbished – everything except the 2nd story which was closed off. (The stairs were taken away also.) The house is awesome. I love historical homes.

Normally I sleep throughout the night like a brick – not waking up until morning. But one night about 4 months ago, I awoke in the middle of the night and saw a man standing next to my bed. He had his hands resting on his knees and he was bent over and his head was cocked to the side. He was wearing what looked like a dark uniform or jump suit. He seemed to be studying me – not threatening, but I must also say that since I was awoken from sleep and saw a man at my bed, I immediately screamed louder and harder than I have ever screamed before. My roommate was also freaked out by my scream and looked around the house and didn’t see anyone. At the time, I was convinced that someone was in the house. But as my heartbeat calmed and I was able to think, I realized it could have been an image from my dream that crossed over as I was waking up – or maybe even something else – maybe a ghost? But I will never know. All I know is what I saw, and for at least 2 seconds, there was a man studying me as I slept and and as soon as I screamed, he was gone.

I also like to think about this: On earth, we are designed to interact with the elements of the earth – We can feel, see, hear, smell, taste – but if you take all of those senses away, we are nothing here, but maybe we are something somewhere else. And that makes me wonder how many senses there are that we have that cannot be used here on earth, but that can touch other places. And we only use a very small percentage of our brain.

Maybe when we sleep, we cross paths with another dimension or something. And maybe when people see ghosts they are catching glimpses of another dimension and they are seeing ours for those few moments.

And these are the things I think about sometimes. :o ) So thanks for this site! I love sharing my thoughts with others who may think the same way.

    Thanks for the comment.
You’re not the only person who has told me that type of story. Even my roomate said that one night while he was lying in bed. He turned over and saw a little boy staring him in the face. A lot of my friends have seen what I call “Black Hats”. It’s a situation similar to yours, except that the person is wearing some type of black hat.

I think part of it might be that as we go to sleep, we enter the somnambulic state. It’s a proven fact that as we fall asleep our brains begin vibrating at different frequencies. As we slip into the Alpha state, our minds become more relaxed. I think that levels of reality are vibrating on different frequencies, so that when we enter that zone, we can perceive things that are always there.
You gave us a nice story for October. Thanks – Tony
